Pleased to meet you.

I may have started this blog without a proper introduction; how very rude of me:

So hi!

I really don't know why I'm writing this or why anyone would be interested (hello low self-esteem, I thought you'd raise your ugly head) but here's a little bit about me:

I'm a BSc Zoology graduate; I graduated last year. Not very surprisingly I like animals. A lot.

I'm 24. I don't know how this happened or why someone didn't try to keep me at the age of 21.

I've started worrying about sun damage and wrinkles. I have been told that I look 16 so I don't think I have too much to worry about but I like to plan ahead.

Apparently I look 16.

I'm engaged to Monsieur Squirrel. He proposed to me on the Steamboat Natchez in New Orleans, which was very nice of him. I swore a lot. I'm still not sure if I actually said yes, we're planning a wedding though, so I'm guessing I must have (after all the swearing).

Me and the Monsieur
My dream job would be in communications, marketing or PR for a conservation charity. Failing that I'll settle for cuddling baby animals all day.

I consider my pets to be part of the family. They are Cleo and Cassie; a red setter who farts a lot and a black cocker spaniel who eats a lot and Mr Spice; a cat who thinks he's a dog.

I collect moustache related merchandise (no joke). I may show this collection to you one day; you lucky lucky people.

If you leave your stationery near me I will draw a willy on it.

I am very mature for my age (see above).

If in doubt, I'm probably joking.

I'm a feminist; I respect gender differences but I believe in equality. Do with that one what you will.

My wardrobe is bursting. I like to shop and play dress-up. However when I do dress up I like to add a touch of scruff. Maybe a baggy cardigan or some messed up boots. I call it tramp chic.

My blog is called Madame Squirrel because I'm female and I can't say squirrel ( I sound like a slurring drunk when I attempt to say it, much to the amusement of everyone in the vicinity).

Madame Squirrel's Weekly Report 4

This week I:

Sat in the sun and had some 'me' time:

Yes I was painting my nails while reading 'The Beauty Myth' by Naomi Wolf: I have a feeling that may be irony in its highest form.

Went into London.'You sound like you're from Landan' (mega-points for knowing what film that's from):

I had a meeting with a recruitment agent on Tuesday(the job hunt continues...)and afterwards I had a wander around the shops in the glorious sunshine.
I had to visit Liberty to have a stroke of their fabrics as I'm a liberty perv and I also acted like a tourist and took snaps of their beautiful flowers.
I bumped into this 'jean'ius pug (sorry) in Oasis and resisted buying the vintage big cat print skirt in Topshop Oxford Circus. It was so nice but for £48 I had to leave it behind. If anyone knows where I can buy similar fabric so I can D.I.Y my own skirt please let me know!

Ate and baked some spring eats:

I am obsessed with Heston from Waitrose's earl grey hot cross buns (if you hadn't guessed; I love tea!) and they go perfectly with a big mug of earl grey (of course). I also baked some spring inspired cupcakes for Monsieur Squirrel's neighbour who turned 95 on Saturday!

Admired the spring flowers:

I am so lucky that I don't need to go too far to admire all that nature has to offer at the moment. The tulips are in my future mum-in-law's english country garden (I hope one day to have fingers as green as hers!) and there is cherry blossom just everywhere!

I hope everyone's had a lovely week. I did plan on posting all the goodies I've bought recently; but alas I've lost my camera cable so that one will have to wait for the time being. I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads/follows and comments on my little blog; it means a hell of a lot to me :)

Love
Madame Squirrel.

Guest Post: Chestnuts & Cedars

Something a bit different today: A guest post from Amy at Chestnuts & Cedars, who I mentioned in this post yesterday!

'I am so flattered that Dannii* let me contribute to her amazing blog today! She and I go way way back to when we were 3 years old in Kindergarten. I have no memory of her not being in my life and although much of the second half of our lives have been spent on two different continents, we've been strong friends (Dannii was the first person I ever got drunk with!).

When Dannii asked me if I would like to do a post on interiors I immediately jumped on it. I often dream about my perfect apartment, but the closest I get to interior decorating is pinterest on a Friday night (doesn't get any crazier than that people). I've been eyeing up the replica baby blue Grant Featherston style chair for a while now so thought this was the perfect time to dream about my non-existent living room. And as this is the lovely Dannii's blog, see if you can spot the mustache reference!

*: Yes my real name is Dannii. And there you all were thinking it was actually Madame Squirrel :)
